The Goechala trek starts from Yuksom, a historic city in western Sikkim at the foot of the Himalayas. With its amazing view of Kanchenjunga, the world’s third highest peak, this trek attracts people from all over the world.
It is also relatively less researched than Mt. Everest Base Camp and Annapurna. You enter Kanchenjunga National Park and venture through pristine meadows and forests, as well as crossing sacred lakes and incredible hanging glaciers. During the 8-day Goechela trek you can immerse yourself in the mountains while enjoying a panoramic view of the Kanchenjunga Mountains.
Daywise Tour Itinerary
Day 1 Trek Begins
Yuksom to Tsokha – 3050 m. (camping/hut)
Day 2 Tshoka to Dzongri
Tshoka to Dzongri - 4320 m.- 6 hours (camping/hut)
Day 3 Trek up to Dzongri-la
Trek up to Dzongri-la 4500m (camping/hut)
Day 4 Dzongri to Thangshing
Dzongri to Thangshing - 3800 m - 5 to 6 hours (camping/hut)
Day 5 Thangshing to Lamuney
Thangshing to Lamuney (near Samiti Lake) – 4298m 3 to 4 hours (camping/hut)
Day 6 Lamuney to Goechala
Lamuney to Goechala (4,940 m.) and return to Thangsing 6 to 7 hours (camping/hut)
Day 7 Thangsing to Tshoka
Thangsing to Tshoka – 3800 m- 7 to 8 hours (camping/hut)
Day 8 Tshoka to Yuksam 6 to 7 hours
Tshoka to Yuksam 6 to 7 hours. Trek ends. Overnight at Hotel.
Inclusions
- All meals on the trek, including boiled water
- Basic English speaking guide. Government certified and trained.
- Tents and sleeping mats
- High altitude Swiss army sleeping bags (-20) with extra Thinsulate fleeced liners
- Yaks/Ponies for carrying tents and cooking equipment
- Cook and porters
- All trekking permits, national park fees and camera fees
- Our guide will carry a comprehensive medical kit including high altitude sickness tablets
- Extra food for breakfast including brown bread, cheese

- Flights
- Personal expenditure i.e. soft drinks/beer on trek, extra snacks for the trek etc.
- Medical examination (if required) and vaccination costs
- Visa costs
- Meals in Darjeeling before or after the trek
- Travel insurance
- Trekking clothes and equipment (can be hired on request)
Booking & Cancellation Policy
Please note – Irrespective of above mentioned cancellations slabs – in case of cancellation of tour services after the booking is made with us – a minimum 10% service charges would be applicable.
In case you cancel the trip after commencement refund would be restricted to a limited amount that too would depend on the amount that we would be able to recover from the hoteliers we patronize. For unused hotel accommodation, chartered transportation and missed meals etc. we do not bear any responsibility to refund.
